In Kalmar County, Öland and Gotland and Östergötland, SMHI has issued class 1 warnings for heavy rain. In Skagerak, in the central and northern Baltic Sea and in the Gulf of Riga, hurricane force winds are warned.
– It can be very heavy rain, and basements and drains can flood when there is so much in a short time. It can rain a lot in other parts of the country too.
Both Södermanland and Stockholm counties can feel the storm on Saturday
The rain comes in company with thunder. There will be lightning and thunder across much of the country as low pressure from the west advances on Saturday.
– At Norrland, we also have a strip of showers that come in at night. The focus of the rain is in the southern parts on Saturday, but on Sunday it is over northern Svealand and Norrland. Then there may also be heavy rains.
The low pressure weather will continue through the weekend, but by Monday it will be clear again. It will be a little warmer, but not really high temperatures.
– It’s a temporary stabilization. It seems that Monday will be sunny and Tuesday stable, but then it will be a low pressure that will pass over the country again.
It’s getting more volatile since the middle of the week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the summer weather is gone for this year.
– Maybe it will be a little warmer at the end of the week. But it probably won’t be 30 degrees warmer this year, says Charlotta Eriksson.
