“Pebben”, or “PJ”, as they called him during his eleven seasons at NHL club Boston, ended his playing career in 2013 after another four seasons at Frölunda.
Since then, he has been a scout looking for players for his former NHL employer.
But that job changed when the crown exploded.
– I don’t know when I last saw a match live, it was probably a Frölunda match last year, says “Pebben”.
Scouts from home
Now he takes care of the exploration from home.
– The biggest difference is that I don’t travel. Now everything is managed through the computer. There I watch games and there we have meetings, he says.
A new existence for “Pebben”, who has never been known as a virtuoso with a mobile phone.
– I have learned technology, there will be some Teams and Zoom and such, says “Pebben” with a laugh.
He had to use a completely different technique on Tuesday when Kungälvs HK hosted the Sävehof at home in Mimershallen.
It attracted no attention
As there were no spectators in the venue, he did not attract attention when “Pebben” left the stands and stepped on the floor to remove the sweat stains.
– Our daughter Wilma plays on the junior team that handles drying the floor when team A plays. This time she crashed into her soccer practice and then I jumped. Defending children is part of the role of parents, he says.
– Also, handball is a fun sport, I usually watch when Wilma plays. And this was an opportunity to see some elite sports live.
Otherwise, “Pebben” is there and helps with his son Wilson’s hockey team.
– But right now the ice rinks are closed even for young people, so there will be no ice rinks for me for a while, says the former hockey star.
