MALMÖ. Here Malmö FF finally gets to celebrate with its fans.
The player’s bus held a gold parade through Malmö, where fans paid tribute to their team with fireworks.
– Good to see you, says Behrang Safari.
The Swedish Championship gold in front of the empty stands was a special one for Malmö FF.
– It was a nice feeling, but without our fans it’s special, says Isaac Kiese Thelin.
The players missed the fans one more night when the gold was salvaged and both the players and the leaders were careful to point out the seriousness of following the restrictions that exist around soccer and the crown.
– We celebrate deep inside (in the locker room), says Kiese Thelin.
At the post-match press conference, team captain Anders Christiansen was named as match coach.
– We will eat some food and see what happens, there are still restrictions, it will be different but we will probably have fun, he says.
The question is then moved to Behrang Safari.
– Yes, there is someone who can fix cigars, you always have to bring a cigar and then drink in moderation, some of us have an internal game tomorrow, says Safari laughing.
But in the end, the players were able to see their fans in a safe way for the crown. Outside the arena in Malmö, behind a fence, a small group of fans were waiting and only Isaac Kiese Thelin did the dance with the fans when he came out of the dressing room.
More players held on and it became a warm away encounter.
And there would be more. The MFF players bus was waiting and heading to a small gold parade in the streets of central Malmö.
– We will take a trip to the city, said Behrang Safari before getting on the bus.
And once on the streets of Malmö, in the Lorensberg area, the players were greeted by Bengals and fireworks from some 50 fans who were scattered throughout the streets.
Police were on the scene to monitor the celebration.
