Some teachers have tested positive

Näsbyparkskolan Upper Secondary School is moving to distance education. This is because several teachers have become ill at school.

– The decision to switch to distance and distance education is due to the fact that in upper secondary school there is a great loss of staff and that several teachers show cold symptoms. Which, of course, is unfortunate, says Maria Assarsson, director of education in the municipality of Täby.

All but one have cold symptoms

25 of the 26 teachers are now home with cold symptoms. All teachers were recommended to take a covid-19 test.

– I have received information that some teachers who tested positive and others negative, some have not yet received the results of their tests, he says.

Distance learning will last for three weeks starting on November 10. Students who are now going to study at home can get help with student health through, for example, special educational support. They can also collect lunch boxes.

– I’m sure the school can handle this. In Täby, this has not affected us before in municipal activities, we hope that we will not have to do it again, he says.

Gymnasium expands distance education

Starting November 12, Åva Gymnasium students will also have more distance education than before. It is a decision that the municipal management took last week to reduce the spread of covid-19.

– Based on the serious situation that prevails, it is a reasonable measure, writes Lillemor Larsson, director of the Åva gym in a text message.

Since September, a part of the teaching has already been done at a distance for grades two and three at the school. But now all students will be affected. All classes will have one or two days a week remote.

– It means real-time distance learning where teachers and students keep in touch during class time through digital channels, writes Lillemor Larsson, Åva gym director.

Distance education in Åva will run until November 26.
