Vaccination against corona has now started in Sweden.
It was the Boken Nursing Home in Mjölby that came out first and the first person was Gun-Britt Johnsson, 91.
SVT streamed live from vaccination and watched as a nurse proceeded with a syringe vaccine and said:
– Are you ready Gun-Britt? Then adhere to the now.
Then it became clear.
The reaction: “He didn’t feel anything”
And Gun-Britt didn’t seem too affected.
– He felt nothing, he said immediately after.
The nurse explained that there may be slight swelling immediately afterward, but that it is “not dangerous.”
After Gun-Britt’s shift, Margit Bylfors had to be vaccinated in the same accommodation.
Vaccine Coordinator: “Fantastic”
– It was really a special moment. Then it was funny that she said she didn’t feel anything, and it was comforting. Great, says Richard Bergström, Sweden’s vaccine coordinator.
On Sunday, each region received 200 doses of vaccine, except Skåne, Stockholm and Västra Götaland, which received 425.
In all, Sweden received 9,750 vaccines from Pfizer yesterday, which is enough to vaccinate approximately 4,900 people.
They receive the first doses
The first doses will be offered to people who live in special homes for the elderly or people who have home care. It will also offer to strengthen domestic contacts with these people, as well as with the staff.
Starting next week, deliveries of the order of 80,000 weekly doses are expected to Sweden.
The goal is to be able to offer vaccines to the entire adult population in Sweden during the first half of 2021
– Under the current plan, all adult Swedes can be offered the vaccine before the summer, says vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström.
