The start date for vaccination is tentatively set for December 28.
– Approximately 22,000 people in Västra Götaland live in so-called special houses and will be offered vaccines first. As soon as we get more vaccines, we will move on to other priority groups, says Kristine Rygge, vaccine coordinator at VGR, in a press release.
DN can now reveal if these nursing homes are:
● Svaleboskogen
● Högsbotorpshemmet
● Kaverös meadow
● Gerda’s farm
In total, about 400 residents live in nursing homes.
Why these four accommodations?
– It is the region that is in charge of vaccination and they asked us if we had nursing homes that were quite close geographically and then we chose these four. So we want everything to run smoothly with this pilot as we do now, says Babbs Edberg, director of senior care in Gothenburg.
According to Babbs Edberg, tenants and employees have started receiving information about the vaccination today, Friday, and it is not completely finished yet.
What are your expectations for this?
– My hopes and expectations are that we can carry out the vaccination together with the region and then be well equipped with the rest of the vaccination of the region.
Do you have any concerns?
– Not really. We have had a good collaboration with the region so far and now it is important that it can continue in the same way.
Vaccination in nursing homes it is carried out in collaboration between the Västra Götaland region and the city of Gothenburg.
In addition to nursing homes, vaccination will be prioritized for three more groups: those who are in the risk group and who have some type of municipal care at home, and those who have so-called adult contact with someone who lives in a community. nursing home or is in the risk group and has home care. .
Those who work in the municipality’s care and nursing activities will also begin to receive vaccines against covid-19 during working days and onwards.
By the beginning of this week it will be ready that 50,000 doses of vaccine will arrive in the region in January, approximately half of what was previously announced.
– It is the provider who cuts by half. It is always a problem when planning in this way. It changes all the time. It is very uncertain what will happen to the vaccine, Ann Söderström, director of health and medical care in the Västra Götaland region, told DN on December 16.
