Three candidates are fighting for the position of new city councilor, with responsibility in the school, and leader of the group of liberals, after Helene Odenjung declared her resignation.
On Monday night Axel Darvik, Pär Gustafsson and Eva Flyborg will be questioned and then await a selection of digital samples.
All three want to see a fresh start for the Liberals and make the party more relevant to the people of Gothenburg.
– The distance between politics and ordinary people is increasing. I think it is dangerous, both for democracy and for a party. It must be broken.
So says Eva Flyborg, who is vice president of Gothenburg & co and has 20 years in parliamentary politics around her neck.
He wants to prioritize safety and list the problems of shootings, explosions and rapes, and how people are forced to adapt their lives accordingly.
– If you don’t feel safe, you’re not free either. Even today, the freedom of movement of many people is eluded. That is not acceptable.
You also want to see a more active business policy. And a push for the care of the elderly.
– It is not worthy that people feel like this in old autumn. This may mean that you need to increase wages, change working methods, make work more attractive.

Ahead of the 2018 election, Eva Flyborg said she wants to see a compromise on the issue of the Democrats’ parade, the Western Link. She considers it natural to strengthen the relationship with D.
– The Democrats have breathed new life into politics. They have captured much of this with the distance between the people of Gothenburg and the political system. They have a lot of good representatives with good opinions, which should not be rejected.
Eva Flyborg
Vice-president of Gothenburg & co and member of the municipal council of the Liberals.
He has 20 years of experience as a Member of Parliament and, among other things, has been a corporate policy spokesperson for L.
Age: 57 years
Eva Flyborg’s three most important political themes:
1. The school. “Everyone should have the first question.”
2.Safety. He has proposed that all of Gothenburg become a section 3 area, where the police can call on security guards for help.
3. Jobs. A more active business policy and support for companies affected by the crown.
On your role in politics: Listen to who wants to cooperate widely. “What kind of democracy or debate is it if you don’t listen to what others are saying? We won’t stop, whoever closes loses.”
Pär Gustafsson (left) is chairman of the education committee, which is responsible for upper secondary school, and vice chairman of the council. He is also a party secretary and works closely with Helene Odenjung, whom he now wants to succeed.
– I really want the liberals to be a party for more and a party that cares.
He wants to achieve this by broadening the image of the party, making the party relevant “at home at the kitchen tables” and pursuing more social issues, such as caring for the elderly and loneliness among the elderly.
He also wants to see more tools for social services to improve integration and security.
– All parties agree that we need more and more stringent laws to access crime, but without a social service with muscles, we will not move forward. There we need prior efforts, along with adequate resources for schools in vulnerable areas.

Pär Gustafsson believes that more should be done for students who need special support.
– I think we need to build a security infrastructure for students who describe themselves as housewives. Much work remains to be done, in combination with ensuring that there is peace of mind and having high ambitions for all students.
Pär Gustafsson
President of the Board of Education, which is in charge of the upper secondary school, vice president of the municipal council. Employed as a political secretary in the city council and therefore works close to Helene Odenjung. Federal president of the Liberals in western Sweden.
Age: 37 years
The three most important questions for Pär Gustafsson
1. The school
2. Social affairs (social services and care for the elderly)
3. Integration
On his role in politics: An open and attentive leadership. Develop and expand the politics of liberals in the social sphere. “We need to ask new questions that make us relevant, things that are discussed at home on the kitchen tables.”
Wants to increase freedom
Axel Darvik (L), First Vice President of the Environment and Climate Committee, wants to fight against freedom in people’s daily lives, increasing safety, ensuring that students have a good school to go to and build houses so that young people can move houses and strengthen the economy so people have jobs to go to.
– We need to retake the initiative in school matters and, above all, also with regard to strengthening security in Gothenburg, he says.
Recently, he criticized city board chairman and alliance colleague Axel Josefson (M) for saying no special anti-gang efforts or increased investment in suburban schools are needed in the city budget.
– If the traffic office, the environmental administration and the social permit unit work together, it can be very difficult to launder money and earn money from criminal activities, says Axel Darvik.
He also thinks that L and the alliance should improve their cooperation in general, in all blocks.
– Sometimes it has been a game of thieves and extortion. You get stuck on formal issues, but if we focus on the social issues that we have, I think there are several parties to the council who want to make a difference.
Axel darvik
1st vice president of the environment and climate commission and member of the municipal council. He is also a member of the city council working group for a fossil-free Gothenburg. He sits on the party board and is part of the party leadership.
Age: 38 years old
The three most important questions for Axel Darvik
1.School: improve school results
2. Increase security in Gothenburg
3. Increase the construction of houses so that both young and old can obtain a home that adapts to their living situation.
On his role in politics: pursuing everyday liberalism to increase people’s freedom. You want to see a more open and modern party. “For me, it is important to win in reality, on issues that are important to people and their freedom.”
