Following the alleged fall of the crown, Smittskydd Skåne Helsingborgs IF recommends not engaging in any football activities at the moment.

The club has now submitted a request to the competition committee to move tomorrow’s match against Djurgården.

– We want to act responsibly towards our players and those of Djurgården, says club director Joel Sandborg.

The information arrived yesterday that Helsingborgs IF has been affected by several cases of covid-19.

In a press release, the club now announces that Smittskydd Skåne together with Infektionskliniken Helsingborg today issued a strong recommendation to HIF not to engage in any football activities at the moment.

Therefore, today’s training session has been canceled and the club has submitted a request to the SvFF competition committee to move the match tomorrow: the Swedish match with Djurgården.

“I have not received any response”

Something that club director Joel Sandborg also confirms for Sportbladet.

– As I said, we have two confirmed cases in the squad, and we have done more tests without receiving a response. We then received a strong recommendation from Smittskydd Skåne that we should not do any football activities until further notice, he says and continues:

– So we also feel that we should send this request regarding tomorrow’s match, as your recommendations clearly affect it as well.

“We want to act responsibly”

Sandborg explains that it is the uncertainty in the tests to which they have not yet received a response that does, together with the recommendations of Smittskydd Skåne, that the club cannot guarantee that the match against Djurgården will take place safely.

– We want to act responsibly towards our players and those from Djurgården, says Sandborg, who has also had continuous contact with the Stockholm club:

– We have had a dialogue where I have given them the information we have, which allows them to take a position on the issue themselves. Then they have to discuss it internally themselves.

Sportbladet has contacted the SvFF competition committee for comment.
