Helena Bergström: “I’m in shock”

Helena Bergström worked many times with Wollter, including at Änglagård.

– I’m in shock, I know he’s been sick, but everything is so scary, he says. The first time Bergström and Wollter worked together on a movie, he played his father.

Henriksson: “God, look at me like this”

Krister Henriksson says she first worked with Sven Wollter when she was 20 years old.

– I think it was a movie called Profitörerna. He was 12-15 years older than me. I remember Sven was huge and I came from drama school. Then he called me and asked how much I had in gage. I told him and then he said, “then you should have the same amount.”

– Then I thought God, he looks at me that way and that made me like him a lot, says Krister Henriksson.

Tomas von Brömssen played Sven Wollter as early as the mid-1980s in Bo Widerberg’s Mannen Från Mallorca and more recently last year in Felix Herngren’s Dag för dag.

Sven Ahlström: a father of the theater

Actor Sven Ahlström worked several times with Wollter at the Stockholm City Theater.

– He was a kind of theater father, someone to go to when it was windy. A very nice, friendly, stubborn and professional person. Many of us will miss it.

They worked together for the first time on a play written by Kristina Lugn.

– It had a line that said, ‘”I ended up on my lot and here I am now.” It was something that went a long way for him and Kristina Lugn in that response, says Sven Ahlström.

Friend of his political opponents

Pontus Stenhäll, artistic director of the Gothenburg City Theater, is in mourning for a great actor.

– He’s one of our best actors, he tells SVT News and continues:

– He could never retire. He may have retired many years ago, but he had both drive as an artist and as a human being.

Describes an actor who liked to talk to everyone, even extras during large recordings and stage productions.

– I don’t think anyone has been so politically involved and continues to be so popular. He was one of us all. Regardless of political views, Sven was respected. It was great that he managed to be friends even with his political opponents, says Pontus Stenhäll.

History passes

The history of film and television passed quickly when the news of Sven Wollters arrived, says Hanna Stjärne, SVT’s CEO.
