Together with her husband, Helen Johansson owns two farms in Halland. One is located in the municipality of Halmstad, the other in the municipality of Varberg.
Recently, they ordered spare parts for an excavator from a local company.
When delivery arrived on Wednesday, the company also sent out a pin-up calendar featuring clothed and nude women in challenging poses. On the cover is the text “Lovely girls”, about which HN was the first to report.
“Fighting against these structures”
Something that made Helen Johansson, who has been in the industry for many years, react.
– I have been fighting for many years against these structures with photos of males and porn and stuff, that it is not natural to have photos of pornography in the workplace. It’s not normal, she says.
She adds:
– I was pissed off that these structures remain despite all the work that has been done to make them disappear. I felt like I had stepped back in time.
Helen Johansson says she doesn’t want children to grow up in a society where they learn to objectify others.
Not the norm
However, you would like to add that it is not the norm in the industry to have such calendars.
– And that’s why I react so strongly. Most have gone much further. It’s not something we usually get, says Helen Johansson.
The company that sent the calendars is called Frillesås Bil & Traktor.
Its owner, Tommy Gustavsson, believes there is nothing pornographic on the calendar and that it has been shipped for at least five years.
– We have received nothing but positive reactions. To call this pornographic images … these are really pretty, well-shot images. They do not radiate pornography. As many women as men work here in the company and, of course, we are against everything in terms of oppression of women, he says.
What do the pictures have to do with machine parts?
– It has nothing to do with that, I agree with that. But those who have received it and don’t like it can just throw it away, says Tommy Gustavsson.
Stop sending them
Now, however, the company has decided that in the future it will only send the calendar to those who request it.
– Today we have probably received 100 emails with people who want the calendar. Maybe five percent don’t like it, but that’s enough. We have no reason to upset people, we have nothing for that, says Tommy Gustavsson.
Stina Bergström, Head of the LRF Gender Equality Academy, tells HN:
– I have seen the cover of the calendar and this is deplorable, he says. Nude calendars do not belong to professional life, neither with women nor with men. It is completely unprofessional.
