Hector fifth, but the second trip flew

It has already been decided that the journey would start from the reserve and begin further down the hill. But the clock was still ticking past 1 p.m., when race two should have started.

At the same time, television footage showed officials being allowed to restrain themselves and various teams at the Austrian ski resort. And just before 1.30 pm the news came that the second women’s giant slalom race in Semmering will be canceled.

– We were flying even on the goal line, says Peter Öberg, physical trainer of the Swedish women’s national team, to TT.

– The target was almost flying and the billboards were flying. There was little drama.

Jury meeting today

With the wind calm, at least for the day, there is also a good chance for Sara Héctor to clinch a new first place after the second place in Courchevel recently.

A jury meeting on Monday afternoon will decide if the race can be held before Tuesday night’s slalom, if the competition will be re-run at a later time or if it should be canceled altogether.

Sara Hector has struggled with both injuries and driving in recent years. But this season, the 28-year-old has shown that she can still keep up with the fastest.

New form message

Second place at Courchevel was recently his first World Cup podium spot since 2014 and the first race at Semmering was a new formality.

Before race two, Hector was fifth, 74 hundredths behind Slovak leader Petra Vlhova, but less than half a second off the podium.

Estelle Alphand was also ready for race two on Monday, but was far behind in her 22nd position.

Other Swedes had missed the trip even before it was canceled. Sara Rask was 32nd, just eleven hundredths from a second race, while both Hanna Aronsson Elfman and World Cup rookie Hilma Lövblom left in the first race.
