One national ice day It means that the maximum temperature remains below 0 degrees in all of Sweden. While there were negative grades in, for example, Falsterbo in lower Skåne, Nikkaluokta and Abisko have a positive grade on Friday morning, which P4 Norrbotten was the first to report.

Record cold yesterday
– There are also big changes in the weather. It was as late as yesterday that Nattavaara in Norrbotten broke the record for cold as the coldest place in Sweden, says meteorologist Tora Tomasdottir.

“Exciting weather”
As a meteorologist, how do you see that the forecast for ice days did not hold up?
– Of course we want to be as accurate as possible in our forecasts, but it is very exciting when such unexpected upheavals occur in the weather. Especially since we had such dull weather in November. True, our forecasts were accurate to the letter, but it was just gray and dark. This is more interesting, says Tora Tomasdottir.

Here, meteorologist Per Stenborg writes about the current weather.
