The NHL is targeting the start of the season in mid-January and it was thought that Lundqvist would protect Washington’s goal along with Ilya Samsonov.

Lundqvist also writes that he will spend the next few weeks with his family and then tell more about his future. It is unclear if his career is over or if he intends to attempt a return at some point in the future.
