“We are concerned about development,” says Köhler.
Last week, 3.5 percent of all people tested for COVID-19 had had the virus. That’s more than three times more than last summer and Mikael Köhler, director of health and medical care in the Uppsala region, warns that the situation may get worse.
– We have prepared for the fact that there may be a second wave during the fall and what we see now may be the beginning. Now it is important that we are all vigilant and do everything possible to stop the infection, it says in a press release.

The number of patients needing care is also increasing. Currently, 17 people are treated with covid-19 at the University Hospital, three of whom receive intensive care.
Due to development, the Uppsala Region will maintain for the time being a ban on visiting care activities that have been in effect since March.
– The Uppsala region is now in a much better position than last spring. But this is a disease that can affect a lot and cause long-term suffering or even death for those affected. Therefore, we must prevent the infection from taking hold again, says the director.
