Actor Simon Larsson will take on the role of Karl-Bertil Jonsson in Hannes Holm’s upcoming film adaptation of the Christmas classic.

The cast also includes Jonas Karlsson as the strict father Tyko, Jennie Silfverhjelm as Marianne, and Sonja Holm as poor girl Vera.
“At Christmas, we talked as a family that I looked like Karl-Bertil. Imagine, we said, if they put Karl-Bertil Jonsson somewhere. When we later saw that it was going to be a movie and that they needed actors, I started strong and applied immediately, ”says Simon Larsson in a press release.
Celebrities such as Vanna Rosenberg, Filip Berg, Ingela Olsson, Claes Månsson, Gunilla Röör, Adam Pålsson, Peter Dalle also appear in the film.
“My job will mainly be to sit back on the record and enjoy,” Hannes Holm says in the press release.
The film will be a dramatized adaptation of the story by Tage Danielsson, who was made by Per Åhlin in a 1975 animated short film and which has been shown on television on Christmas Eve ever since.
Filming begins next week in the Västra Götaland region and the film opens in November 2021.
