It was on the afternoon of January 27 when the couple were arguing in the man’s new apartment in Markaryd. They had lived there together for a few weeks.
Before that, the 47-year-old man had lived for a short time with the man from his old home and helped him clean up after selling it.
The couple had some kind of relationship.
The woman was homeless and had alcohol problems. The man was a widow who was easy to feel lonely with adult children who had their own homes.
Despite his age, he ran a company that traded trucks and machinery, and he had a lot of money. She was interested in obtaining financial support, preferably for her own department.
The couple fought over the movement
But the 77-year-old woman did not want him to move. On February 27, the couple fell out over that issue. The woman was really drunk.
The violence started in the living room.
– I know he said something that made me even more angry. I said “shut up now” or “shut up” or something like that and put it on him, she says in interrogations.
– Then I took the pillow that was closest and took care of his head. I remember it very strongly. I know he was fighting with his arms. Then when I raised the pillow and it wasn’t long, I know he was bleeding from the nose and gasping for air.
Sleeping in the bedroom
After that, the woman dragged the 77-year-old woman into the bedroom. There he lay on his back on the floor next to the bed. She panicked, she told me.
– Then I took the pillow again, reached in and grabbed my nose. I know I sat there for about a minute, or something else. To be absolutely sure. And I checked the chest all the time, she says.
– I removed the pillow when I saw that the chest was not rising. It was then that I checked my heart rate. I know I just sat there looking at him and the chest for a while. Then I went out and closed the door.
Call friend for help
The 47-year-old man called an old friend and asked him for help removing the body. But the friend refused and said she had to call the police.
He broke up the conversation and instead found a childhood friend in Höör. She made him get in the car and drive to Markaryd. He was the one who alerted 112.
Initially, the man was also a suspect in the crime. But that suspicion quickly released the police.
“That was not the point”
The woman has consistently admitted that it was she who killed the 77-year-old man. But she says:
– It was not my opinion at all that he was going to die. That was not my idea. It was just that he was angry and wanted to silence him.
However, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Yvonne Rudinsson in Växjö has chosen to prosecute the 47-year-old for murder. The prosecution says the woman “committed the act with intent.”
The trial will be simple. One defendant, two witnesses: Höör’s childhood friend and a medical examiner. Everything is expected to end in one day.
