Last season, Hanna Öberg finished fourth in the overall world cup, she also won the world cup away.
The World Cup in Italian Antholz, however, was a roller coaster for Öberg. Fourth places lined up and Hanna Öberg was disappointed and frustrated. But on the final day of the WC, the medal finally came when Öberg took home bronze in the mass start.
Hanna Öberg, who recently turned 25, is now ready for a new season that began on Saturday with the Swedish premiere on Idre.
Öberg came out as the top ranked on the starting field last of all in the sprint and was today’s favorite for victory.
And the 25-year-old did not disappoint. Öberg came to the finish line as the winner after shooting without problems.
– It means a lot to me to win a competition like this. And there was a lot of nervousness before. But I am very happy with my career and, above all, with how I worked on the shooting range today, says Öberg, who says it was difficult conditions.
– Today was not easy in the snow, it was wet and loose. And I tried to get some gunpowder left on the sprint lap and I had it.
– I am very satisfied with my approach and how it ended today, says Öberg.
Skottheim second
Johanna Skottheim also shot smoothly and finished second.
– You can’t shoot better than two zeros, so I have to be happy with that. And I’m very satisfied with my overall effort, finishing second here today feels great, says Skottheim.
