Hammarby used a complete collapse on Mjällby’s defense in the first quarter. Individual mistakes remained sticks on the hill. The scoreboard marked 3-0 at eleven and a half minutes.
– I think we have a very good dividend in the first quarter. We find out behind your bottom line. But with 3-0, we almost started to get a little careless. And then we got stressed out when they went down, Hammarby’s coach Stefan Billborn summed up.
Mjällby coach Marcus Lantz stated bluntly that his start ruined the entire match.
– So it is Hammarby’s carelessness that he does not roll at 4-0 in attack after the third goal. We weren’t even close to being able to threaten. Hammarby was good, Lantz said.
It already started in the third minute. Hammarby found his way behind the baseline, Abdul Khalili completed the attack and played Gustav Ludwigsson who scored 1-0 at the net.
Two minutes later it was 2-0. After a good combination between Tim Söderström and Ludwigson, Khalili played inside the area. Mjällby midfielder Jesper Löfgren punched a hole in the air and Aron Johannsson was able to tip the ball.
In the twelfth minute he came third. Amir Sher highlighted the ball to safety Alexander Kacaniklic, who retired it and finished off with a balloon at the same moment. Mjällby goalkeeper Carl-Johan Eriksson was on the ball, but Ludwigson rushed to the loose ball, past a passive Erik Björkander and was able to force the ball with his forehead.
In this mode Mjällby was not in the match at all. Darijan Bojanic and Amir Sher were able to dominate midfield at will, as they had plenty of time to work well. Hammarby had offers for more goals.
Mjällby was offered a lifeline in the 25th minute. Hammarby lined up completely insane on a free kick just outside Mjällby’s penalty area. Mjällby won the second ball and Mamudo Moro was able to run with the ball from the middle of his own half of the field. Amir Sher didn’t keep up with the fast Moro, goalkeeper David Ousted came out and covered Moro’s shot, but no better than the ball bouncing off Moro and into the goal.
The reduction target meant that Hammarby lost focus. Mjällby was able to fight his way into the match and create a couple of chances before the break.
In the second half Hammarby took compact control over the game. And in the 62nd minute Tim Söderström closed the game 4-1.
A high class achievement. Söderström floated forward past the edge, received Khalili’s pass on the pass, easily passed two Mjällby players as he got into the penalty area and finished low at the first post.
Mjällby was only occasionally able to establish games in the offensive half. And the drop to 4-2 after 69 minutes of play was a surprise. David Batanero fired from afar, stretching his ankle to the left, as Sher and Bojanic watched.
– We started the first 20 minutes of the second half very well. Our best period in the game. Strong after the crash at the end of the first half.
– So there were good parts and less good parts for our part in the game. The latter may be a product of the fact that it was so easy in the beginning, Billborn said.
