Halmstad near the climb to the Allsvenskan

A classic club is back.

Halmstad is ready for the Allsvenskan after a crush on Gif Sundsvall.

After three seasons, Halmstad leaves the Superettan and, with two rounds left, promotion to the best Swedish speakers is assured.

– This is what you’ve dreamed of since I moved home. What a team, what wonderful guys. 18 zeros in 28 games, we have not conceded a goal in a fixed situation, I have never experienced anything like this, says midfielder Andreas Johansson, who returned to Halmstad after ten years, to Dplay.

And Halmstad did it convincingly. For the promotion win, which was also the team’s seventh in a row at the Superettan, it was a run over against box five Gif Sundsvall. 6-0, where the initial three were made when less than half an hour into the first half was played.

Forward Mikael Boman slammed on the opening and extension goals to 2-0. The second came after a counterattack in the defensive corner, Emil Tot Wikström was left alone against two Sundsvall defenders, waiting for a running Boman who scored his 10th goal of the season.

The 32-year-old forward was four minutes later, at 28, behind Halmstad’s next goal. Boman nodded to midfielder Andreas Johansson, the ball ended with Samuel Kroon, who deliciously misled the goalkeeper and rolled for 3-0.

Degerfors trembles

Three goals in the first half, three goals also in the second. Where Tot Wikström, like Boman, became a two-goal shooter. Where one was a well placed low left shot.

The 21-year-old had 4-0 and 5-0, and in extra time Alhassan Kamara fixed the final score of the crusher, 6-0.

When the first cheers in the Sundsvall arena subside, Halmstad will now head home for a twelve-hour bus ride.

– We can sit there and celebrate, says two-goal shooter Mikael Boman.

At the same time, Degerfors missed the chance to secure promotion, because it was against AFC Eskilstuna lost 0-2. But the 23-year wait may end later tonight, then table three Jönköpings-Södra must lose points against Ljungskile.
