The triple at Stora Valla means HBK goes up alongside Degerfors. Both teams have 31 points – Degerfors leads with better goal difference.
It was a close and close fight in the rain where HBK showed the advantage both forward and backward.
Goalkeeper Malkolm Nilsson kept a clean sheet for the tenth time this season and, going forward, it was long tackles from the edges that paved the way to victory.
Samuel Kroon opened the scoring in the 19th minute. The right winger came and served Thomas Boakye, classy.
The Ghanaian appeared at the near post and tied the ball behind Jeffrey Gal. The Degerfors goalkeeper had no chance.
– It feels good. I like to walk when I have the ball. I wish I had more balls, so that I could do the things I’m good at, says Kroon when talking about the important fit in the Dplay interview.
He adds:
– We play quite well, as we want. They don’t start their game.
A great opportunity was saved for Degerfors
Degefors, with five straight home wins behind, had a chance to equalize when Victor Edvardsen hit a good shot in the 38th minute. HBK goalkeeper Malkolm Nilsson sank and put up a good one-handed pair.
After 73 minutes, Degerfors entered the goal. Once again, it was Samuel Kroon who helped. This time with a pitching pass after a left corner. Andreas Johansson stayed ahead and scored 0-2, the veteran’s first goal in 2020.
– An even and tough match. We have a solid first half in which we manage one of our opportunities, sums up HBK coach Magnus Haglund in search of a place at Allsvenskan.
The teams will meet again in the next round, on Monday, September 7. Then the series finale is played at Örjans Vall.
