Högerbacken was loaned out last fall at Malmö FF and in August became a permanent player to the league leader. This after a failed stint at German Werder Bremen, where Beijmo was loaned out to Greuter Fürth in the 2.Bundesliga directly after the MFF fall. Felix Beijmo was not physically ready to play when he was drafted into MFF in mid-August and had to settle for a just over 30-minute run against Falkenberg at the end of the month.
The BP product hasn’t even had any more parties on the bench since then.
– I feel good, strong and in good shape. Then of course it takes time to get into a new game system and new principles, all of that. But that’s a question for Jon (Dahl Tomasson). At the same time, the team has done very well and we lead the Allsvenskan by eight points. There isn’t much to complain about, says Felix Beijmo.
He continues:
– At the same time, they are happy that things are going well for the team and we have a common goal of winning the Swedish Championship gold. It is the highest goal above all individual ambitions. I train and I know the opportunity will come soon.
Beijmo played from the start in the European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Iceland and Italy a month ago. Then new evidence emerged.
– I was with the national team and played two games. Then I immediately fell ill when I got home and missed both Örebro and AIK due to cold symptoms. I have been training ever since and trying to find the best form. That’s the only thing I can do, says Beijmo.
Maybe you believed in a greater rotation between you and Eric Larsson?
– Not much to really believe. It is the coach who decides and the only thing I can do is give my best in training. I’m not that stressed out by any means, but I know the opportunity comes faster than you think.
Coach Jon Dahl Tomasson explains the situation with Felix Beijmo:
– It is always difficult when you enter the middle of a season and with a new way of playing football. But he’s driving, he still lives in a hotel, so I hope Felix and his girlfriend find an apartment. Then they calm down a little more.
– We have Felix, which is also good for the future, I think it’s a good buy. But he’s on the squad against Kalmar. He holds his head up and is positive. I like that. Everyone has the opportunity when they work hard, so the question is if they wait, says Dahl Tomasson.
MFF take on second-placed Kalmar FF tonight at Guldfågeln Arena.
