The environmental organization Greenpeace is still blocking the entrance to the Preemraff port north of Lysekil early Friday morning. But the ship has moved out of the cordoned off protected area.
– They are now outside the cordoned off protection zone. At 03.17 I have a note about a new position where they have anchored, says Jenny Berg, officer at the Coast Guard command center at 04.17.
It cannot answer why Greenpeace decided to move the ship. The Coast Guard assists the police and at dawn on Friday had two boats in the area that were monitoring the situation.
– Apart from the fact that they (Greenpeace) have anchored if the situation has not changed, says Jenny Berg.
The protest started Thursday night when Greenpeace anchored its Rainbow Warrior ship to prevent arriving tankers from docking at Preemraff.
At least four tankers have been in the Skagerrak overnight waiting to build the port, according to the Marine Traffic site.
Greenpeace protests against Preem’s controversial planned expansion of the oil refinery. In June, the Supreme Court of Lands and Environment approved the expansion plans. The matter then passed to the government, which will make a final decision on the issue in the fall.
“We are here until Preem withdraws his application or Stefan Löfven decides there will be no expansion,” Greenpeace’s Markus Mattisson, on board the ship, told Bohusläningen on Thursday evening.
