There are big differences in the country’s preschools, according to SKR. Stock Photography.

Sweden’s municipalities and regions (SKR) have carried out a first open comparison of preschool centers in the country.

“We know that the conditions of the municipalities are very different in terms of the supply of preschool competitions. This depends, among other things, on the dimensioning of preschool teacher training from the state and from higher education institutions. With these statistics we focus on what the municipalities themselves can work on, the distribution within the municipalities, ”says María. Caryll, manager of the education section at SKR of the organization’s website.

SKR writes that “the results show great differences between different municipalities and preschools” and mentions in particular the density of teachers as such an area. By comparison, there is also a slightly higher staff density in the socioeconomically weaker areas, but fewer preschool teachers.

In a survey that SKR sent to municipalities, half of the respondents say that they use a socio-economic model when allocating resources to preschool.
