The weather on New Year’s Eve offers good conditions for viewing fireworks.
The week begins in gray weather. The clouds dominate and it will be windy across the country.
– There will be rain and more degrees for many, even if it seems that it will be full of snow in many places in the north, says Mikael Sjöstrand, Klart.se meteorologist.
Snow advisories have been issued for Västernorrland county and inland Gävleborg, which may also affect the border with Härjedalen and Dalarna. In Västernorrland, heavy snowfall is expected from time to time with 10-15 centimeters of snow, locally up to 20 centimeters. In Gävleborg, 10 to 15 cm of snow can fall.
The murmur continues on Tuesday. In the south it will rain in most places, in the north there will be even more snow.
– The low pressure continues and larger amounts also fall on Tuesday in northern Dalarna and Jämtland, says Mikael Sjöstrand.
In Dalarna, Jämtland and Västernorrland, 5-10 cm of snow can fall, locally up to 20 cm. This probably means new snow warnings.
Still many clouds
The unstable weather continues even on Wednesday. It will snow in many places in the north, but it is only a few inches.
The clouds are still hanging in the south, with more degrees although somewhat cooler than earlier in the week. It continues to rain in Götaland, in Svealand there will be some breaks during the day but towards the afternoon rain is expected in large parts.
Fireworks weather?
The last day of the year offers a bit colder weather. On Thursday the gray cloud begins in many places with a couple of showers in the south. In Götaland between 0 and 4 degrees more, in Svealand it will be zero degrees with lots of clouds, and even more rain. In the north clouds dominate and in the mountains there will be snowfall which can be abundant in the mountains of Lapland.
At dusk the rain is expected to subside in most places, even if the clouds remain.
– At twelve o’clock, breaks are expected in most places, says Mikael Sjöstrand.
What does this mean for fireworks?
– The clouds are not particularly low, so there will be no fog even if it is cloudy. Then it has blown a lot earlier in the week, but in most places the winds are weaker on New Years night. So it’s good for those who are going to shoot fireworks and see them, says Mikael Sjöstrand, adding that in the south and along the mountain range it will be a little more windy.
