Together with Kantar Sifo, the company commissioned a survey among so-called young professionals and compiled a list of the 100 most attractive employers in Sweden.
The list is headed as usual by companies like Google, Apple and Spotify. It is with these companies that Swedish students and academics at the beginning of their careers prefer to work.
But the survey, which has been conducted since 2015, mostly shows clear changes further down the list. According to Markus Åberg of Academic Work, it says something about how the dreams of young academics have changed in the wake of the corona pandemic in 2020.
– Government agencies are seen in a new light. Young people see that there are exciting tasks and meaning to work there. That makes these employers very attractive, he says.
According to Julia Granström, responsible for the survey at Academic Work, not only the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Tax Agency have become more popular, but also environmental organizations and employers with an environmental focus.
But it is not the case that the Armed Forces make the jump to the top ten list.
– On the other hand, we see a pattern in large state employers moving upward, and especially the Armed Forces, which have achieved the greatest improvement and increased more than 30 placements, to the top half of the hundred most attractive employers, says Markus Åberg.
The responses show that young people in a major crisis prioritize more than before to work with something they consider important, he believes.
– In difficult times, you don’t want to sit in the stands, but you want to work with something that contributes to society, says Markus Åberg.
Other aspect is that the public sector is associated with secure employment.
To be included in this list, employers must be mentioned by the name of the respondents in the survey, which was conducted at the beginning of the pandemic outbreak in Sweden.
Here’s what the top of the so-called Young Professional Attracting Index looked like in 2020: 1) Google, 2) Apple, 3) Spotify, 4) Netflix, 5) Ikea, 6) Microsoft, 7) Dice, 8) Afry , 9) Volvo Group, 10) IBM.
– All are companies that are perceived as very successful because they invest in their employees and believe in their creativity, says Markus Åberg.
