Göran Persson and Anitra Steen bought the farm at Bergaholms udde in Flen in 2005. Since then, they have wanted to take back the leased land to develop their meat production. It is a plot with a small house that has been rented by a family for the last 40 years.
For 2016, the Nyköping District Court ruled that the plot used by the tenants must remain the same size. This after Persson and Steen wanted to use part of the plot for agriculture.
– It is no more dramatic that there is an ongoing competitive situation between agricultural grazing activities and a fairly simple housing problem. This is not an ordinary house, but rather simple, says Nils Larsson, attorney for Persson and Steen.
You want to increase the turnover of your farm
Now Göran Persson and Anitra Steen wanted the lease to cease from March this year. Among other things, the couple have stated that they would increase their turnover by up to 350,000 SEK if they were allowed to use the now leased land. This is done by increasing the number of grazing animals from 20 to 125.
The matter was raised by the Västerås rental and leasing committee, which last week decided to reject the couple’s application. than Södermanlands Nyheter to count first. Among other things, the Rent and Leasing Board mentions in its assessment that the Land Code rules provide strong possession protection for tenants. The Board also decided to extend the lease without changes from April 1 of this year and five years thereafter.
– It’s too early to say if we will appeal this. It has not been a week since the decision was made and I have not had time to review it. But we have to decide whether he will be in district court now or in five years, says Nils Larsson.
