On Wednesday evening a girl in her 20s was found near Bygatan in the Hammarby district of Västerås.

The girl fainted when she was picked up by an ambulance, according to police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin.

– We received a call at 5.15pm from an ambulance where the staff told us that they picked up a girl in her thirties. She was fainting when the ambulance arrived, but recovered during the trip and was later told she had been beaten, she tells TT.

According to Magnus Jansson Klarin, the girl is now in the hospital.

– Of the injuries you can see, the title is aggravated assault, but we haven’t heard it yet.

Magnus Jansson Klarin urges witnesses to contact the police if they have made any observations that may have to do with the incident.

– As it is not clear what has happened, we are anxious to obtain ten ps from people who may have been in the area. We will also try to listen to the girl whenever possible and at the moment we are working with the advice we have received.
