WASHINGTON DC A record number of Americans voted in this year’s presidential election, and Joe Biden was declared the winner on Saturday.

Politician and suffrage activist Stacey Abrams is now being hailed as responsible for 800,000 more Americans voting this year.

– She has shown what patience and perseverance can give, says political scientist Andra Gillespie.

Turnout in this year’s US presidential election is estimated to be the highest in history in terms of the number of votes. It is estimated that up to 67 percent of Americans went to the polls in the fall, several percentage points higher than normal.

Many are celebrating the high turnout, and now liberals are paying tribute to Democratic politician Stacey Abrams in Georgia, whose efforts to increase turnout are estimated to have inspired 800,000 Americans to vote for the first time this year.

– Everyone should get on their knees and thank strong black women like the fearless Stacey Abrams and so many others who are not appreciated enough. tweeted Pramila Jayapal, a Democratic politician in the United States Congress when the Democrats entered Georgia.

May have turned Georgia

Joe Biden edged out Donald Trump in Georgia on Friday and held a small lead after that. Because the margin is so small in the state, the votes will be recalculated, but the Democrats celebrated the result anyway – the state had not voted democratically in nearly thirty years.

But Abrams doesn’t want to take credit for the result. When the tributes started pouring in, Abrams tweeted and thanked most of the voting organizations and the recently deceased politician and civil rights activist John Lewis.

– My heart is full, he wrote on twitter.

Governor’s post lost 2018

Stacey Abrams lost the battle for the governorship of Georgia during the 2018 midterm elections, and Democrats in the state still question the legitimacy of the election result.

His opponent in the gubernatorial race, Republican Brian Kemp, was himself the main person in charge of the electoral system in Georgia and, according to critics, known for opposing the civil rights movement’s fight for greater access to the electoral register.

– I think I would have been governor today, had it not been for the oppression of voters, says Nikema Williams, Georgia’s representative in the US Congress.

Following the defeat in the 2018 election, Abrams decided to address the issue of suffrage, especially with the state’s many unregistered black voters in mind. Since 2018, 800,000 new voters have registered in Georgia, according to Abrams. Of these, 49% are under the age of 30 and 45% belong to a minority group, which means that the majority of newly registered voters are likely Democratic voters.

You can become a minister

Before Kamala Harris was chosen to run alongside Joe Biden as vice president, Abrams was involved in speculation. Now, instead, she is expected to become a minister in a possible Biden government.

– She has managed to become an important player and there is much she could contribute, says political scientist Andra Gillespie.
