In the state of Georgia, Joe Biden currently leads with 49.5 percent of the votes counted, compared to 49.2 percent for Donald Trump, according to CNN.
There are 14,122 votes between the two candidates.
The Secretary of State, because of the small margin, decided to recalculate the votes by hand, writes The Hill.
On Tuesday, the Trump campaign sent a letter to Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger, requesting a recount of the votes before the state certifies its results.
“Such a small margin requires a complete recalculation by hand in each county,” Raffensperger said at a news conference Wednesday, CNBC wrote.
All states have different laws regarding the conditions for recalculation. In some states a recalculation must be performed if the margin is small enough, but in Georgia there is no such provision.
However, candidates can request that the votes be recalculated if the margin is less than 0.5 percentage points. So Trump has done that. Right now, Joe Biden is leading by 0.3 percentage points.
