There is a lot to buy at Gekås in Ullared, but no shoes. That will change soon. Because as of January 1, 2021, you will be the majority owner of the Sko-Boo shoe store in Ullared.

– Shoes have been in great demand from our customers for many years. We haven’t invested in shoes for Sko-Boo’s sake, it’s been a gentlemen’s agreement. But when we now had the opportunity to buy, we did. We have been asking the question about the purchase for several years. Now we had the opportunity and we couldn’t say no, says Boris Lennerhov, CEO of Gekås Ullared.

Gekås Ullared invests in shoes

The store in front of Gekås will remain in the same location as now for the next year. But in early 2022, they will move to the department store in a new extension. When Gekås now invests in shoes, they get their own floor plan. The total area of the shovel plane will land at 2,500 square meters. There you can buy shoes for both adults and children.

– The shoe industry has not had fun during the pandemic, but in the future people must still have shoes. We want to be more precise in the range and see that we can double the turnover in two years when you are here, and with a wider range. We are investing in the future.

The new extension where the shoes will be located is basically finished, some interior design remains.

Will you expand the range with new footwear brands?

– It will be gradual, we will expand it much more than the store can do today due to lack of space, says Boris Lennerhov.

Opened in Ullared in 1969

He says there will be more novelties in department stores during the latter part of 2021, but he doesn’t mean what.

– You have to develop and not get tired, and customers demand it.

The current owner of Sko-Boo, Jörgen Carlsson, will remain a minority owner and will take over as CEO of the new Sko-Boo Sko AB subsidiary. Together with Gekås Ullared, he will develop the new footwear department.

The Sko-Boo shoe store was opened in Ullared as early as 1969 by Bo Carlsson.
