The fire started in a row house shortly after 9 p.m. Monday night and quickly spread to adjacent homes. Emergency services, an ambulance and the police were called to the scene.

– It is a fully developed fire, so it will take a long time. They have said it will take many hours, an SOS Alarm spokesperson initially said.

SOS Alarm announced that there was a risk of spread and that the residents of the area had been evacuated. The rescue service also announced that the house had been completely damaged.

– What has been burned must be burned. Now they are trying to stop it from continuing, says Johan Fors, head of rescue for the rescue service in Herrljunga.

Do you know what started the fire?

– We have no explanation for that. It burned fiercely from the start, says Johan Fors.

The rescue service: “It will take time”

An hour later, the fire had spread to the third of a total of four houses throughout. The extinction work was still underway at 01 o’clock, but the rescue service announced that there was no longer a risk of it spreading to adjacent buildings.

– This is total damage to two apartments and two apartments that are damaged by water, says Morgan Gunnarsson, internal commander of the rescue service in Herrljunga.

– The nearby stretch is not damaged, but the accommodation has been evacuated, says Morgan Gunnarsson.

The rescue service will continue the firefighting work overnight until Tuesday.

– He was good with flames when I passed. Since it is still burning, it will take time. If you have the tracking, we probably still have a couple of men in all night, says Morgan Gunnarsson of the rescue service.

Shortly after midnight, police had left the scene for the day and also cordoned off the area.

– We have launched a preliminary investigation into the arson, but the cause of the fire is uncertain. That’s why we don’t have any suspects either, says Andreas Odén, a police duty officer.

No person should have been injured in the fire. On Tuesday, police will conduct an investigation of the fire site.
