Region Dalarna will act as Region Blekinge and will introduce its own recommendations on restrictions starting Thursday, unless the Public Health Agency comes in with local general recommendations for the region, the administration writes in a press release.
The regional administration notes that ten percent of those examined are infected and that the situation is considered to be the second wave of the corona pandemic.
– This has become a lottery. When we now see how the spread of Covid-19 is increasing in Dalarna, we must act. So we don’t have time to wait for the Public Health Agency to dictate the terms at its press conferences, says regional board chairman Ulf Berg (M) in the press release.
If you act now, hopefully it will be possible to celebrate Christmas with the family and save ski tourism this winter, says the chair of the Health and Medical Care Committee, Sofia Jarl (C).
The Swedish Public Health Agency it has previously responded to criticism for slow management by saying that regions are free to issue the recommendations they deem appropriate.
– If you feel that it is so important to leave now, you have that opportunity. An advantage of doing this together with the Swedish Public Health Agency is that there will be clarity on what applies, said unit chief Sara Byfors at Tuesday’s press conference.
A total of 13 of the 21 regions of the country and the majority of the population are now affected by stricter local coronary restrictions, which were introduced after consultation between the regions and the Public Health Agency. On Tuesday, the Blekinge region opted to tighten restrictions on its own.
– We must act now, We cannot wait for the process that the general council takes. These rules apply for the rest of the month, but may be overridden by advice from the Swedish Public Health Agency, it remains to be seen, infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö told the region’s press conference.
There is also frustration in the Värmland region that dialogue with the Public Health Agency is slow at the same time as the spread of infection increases.
At the government press conference, Lena Hallengren was asked if this is not the time to introduce stricter general advice across the country.
– At present, this is not the path we intend to take, says Lena Hallengren.
– It is an important job when you have a dialogue with the various actors in the region to really have an effect. It is not just about making the decision, it must also be followed and well prepared in the region. Not everyone is affected equally and at exactly the same time.
