Frölunda hasn’t gotten back in shape lately with several major losses in a row.
The 0-8 loss to Växjö on Tuesday was the club’s biggest loss in more than 21 (!) Years.
Saturday’s game against Rögle started hard for the Gothenburgers.
With just half a second left in the first period, Rögle took the lead through Simon Ryfors.
Frölunda turned around and won against Rögle
A lead that the guests expanded in the second half when hill Niklas Hansson sent a shot from a bad angle, which looked behind Niklas Rubin.
From time to time, Frölunda seemed to be heading for his fourth loss in a row.
But the home team would return. At the end of the second period, the talent Theodor Niederbach was cut down with his first career goal in the SHL.
The third period, Frölunda, started out strongly with various dangerous situations and the draw came immediately. When just under five minutes were played, Mattias Norlinder pushed a shot from his backfield after Theodor Lennström played it as a forward.
Message from fans after the collapse
And it was precisely Lennström who would become the hero of the match when just ten minutes later he completed Frölunda’s turn and made sure that the home team won the match.
– It means a lot to us, especially as we had some tough matches behind us. So it means a lot that we managed to turn around and win when it was so tight. We know what kind of character we have and we never doubt. But it gets harder, of course, when we code, confidently and all, says Theodor Lennström.
Before the game, the fans put up a banner for the players at the entrance, with the message that they are behind on ups and downs.
– I saw it when I came here. I think it’s fun that they worry and burn as much as we do, says Lennström, who thus became a hero to the fans with the decisive goal.
Frölunda Lennström will soon lose
How I felt?
– I think I played very badly in the first and second periods, then very well in the third. Overall, it’s felt really good the longer it’s been this season on his part. Today I can see my first two periods and then develop the game that I had. Scoring goals is always nice and above all winning. It’s the best there is.
It remains to be seen how long Lennström will stay in Frölunda. The Edmonton Oilers, who own the rights to the hill, have yet to announce when it will cross, but it will likely arrive soon.
– I have tried to think about it all season, that I played each game as if it were the last. So I take it day by day and enjoy every workout, every game that I can do here. Then I can see what day I go.
