Frölunda got off to a good start in the tough away game against league runner-up Växjö.
Robin Álvarez gave the visitors the lead with his tenth goal of the season. However, late in the opening period, the Smålanders draw came through Richard Gynge (goal 17) before Brendan Gaunce gave Växjö the lead early in the second.
He approached the goalkeeper
Then the situation that is being talked about after the game arose.
Frölunda’s Christoffer Ehn had positioned himself in front of Växjö’s goal. When the puck fell around the corner and was about to get there, he knocked down Växjö goalkeeper Viktor Fasth on the way there.
Ehn had to go away with a match penalty while Viktor Fasth was able to complete the match despite the hit he appears to have received on the back of the head.
Chance to win a series
Frölunda’s Nicklas Lasu dropped to 2-3 with ten minutes to go in the third period, but didn’t get any closer than that. With the victory, Växjö has continued everything in his own hands as far as the battle for series victory in SHL is concerned.
Rögle, who is currently in the table but has finished playing, stands at 98 points, while Växjö is second of his 96 with three games to go.
