The Skåne Region reports about 500, more precisely 498, new corona cases on Tuesday. This is slightly less than last week’s spikes in infection, but still at a much higher level than before.
At the same time, infection control physician Eva Melander is now warning that infection is increasing in older age groups.
– We now have a faster age difference than in the group that previously dominated, 20-29 years. It shows that the infection is everywhere and affects loved ones if we are not helped to stop it. Many are concerned about getting infected and that anxiety can only be calmed if we all help each other and follow recommendations, it says in a press release.
Recently, the number of people hospitalized has increased every day, except for the weekend, but Tuesday’s figures show a slight decrease, from 74 to 73 people.
The Skåne Region also reports four new deaths, two of which were recorded on Tuesday. As of October 23, Skåne now has 15 kills per crown.
Since the start of the pandemic, Skåne has had a total of 11,138 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 302 deaths.
