This Saturday was the first time that Orij Lozowski, 40, visited the Tyresta National Park. When he was about to get home through the difficult terrain, he almost fell off a cliff.
There he found the remains of a human.
– It was shocking. I immediately contacted the police, he says.
On Monday night, the police announced that they had found the remains of a man in an inaccessible location in Tyresta National Park, south of Stockholm. DNA samples have been taken and the person is expected to be identified soon. A preliminary investigation into the murder is underway, which is routine when the circumstances surrounding a death are unclear.
However, the body was already found on Saturday by Orij Lozowski, a 40-year-old electrician who often goes out into nature in search of tranquility and takes pictures.
– The weather was fantastic that day, so I decided to visit Tyresta. I like discovering new places in Sweden because I haven’t lived here in a long time, he says.

Orij Lozowski photographed himself during his hike in Tyresta National Park. This photo was taken just before he found the body.
After a few hours of walking, the weather deteriorated and Orij Lozowski decided to start heading home.
– I chose the northwest direction to exit towards the highway. The nature where I was was complex with a lot of felled trees, sharp rocks and water, so I tried to walk carefully, he says.
“It was shocking”
After a steep descent from a mountain, he saw a deep gap between the rocks. He was about to fall but managed to stay upright. It was then that he saw that there was something at the bottom of the crack.
– First I saw a pair of shoes and pants. Then I realized that it was a dead person. It was shocking, he says.

Orij Lozowski photographed the site and saved the GPS coordinates so that the police could more easily find it.

The place where the body was found was inaccessible with fallen trees and rocks. The body was found in a cave-like crevice.
He photographed the place and saved the geographic coordinates on Google maps.
– I tried to calm down and called my wife. I said: I have an obligation to inform the police. Give the family of the deceased the opportunity to bury the body.
“I heard the police sirens”
Orij Lozowski contacted the police via polisen.se and told them what he had found, but did not receive confirmation that the message had arrived. So on Monday afternoon, when he still did not hear anything, he went to a police station to contact.
– When I left the station I heard the sound of police sirens and then I felt that thank God, now the police will find the body.
Orij Lozowski says that the discovery he made has sparked many thoughts.
– I wonder why I just found the person, what happened to him and why. So I hope the person’s family has peace.

When Orij Lozowski did not receive a response to his report via the police website, he went to the nearest police station to make sure the information was relayed. A few hours later, the body was found.
