Five people were killed after a helicopter crashed at an altitude of 1,800 meters in Savoy, in the French Alps. A sixth person is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
This is stated by French President Emmanuel Macron on Twitter.
The helicopter was on a mountain rescue training mission when it crashed. The pilot managed to shoot himself off and send a warning signal. There was also a second pilot, two crank operators, and two mountain rescuers aboard the helicopter.
Three helicopters were dispatched, but they have not been able to reach the crash site due to fog. At the same time, rescuers have been dispatched to reach the scene on snowmobiles.
