To support individual businesses during 2020 and 2021, the government proposes a grant of SEK 5 billion. But the crisis package is too late, say C and M. – It has been too long for this support to materialize, Center Director Annie Lööf tells TT.

The aim of the support is to help companies that have lost much of their income during the pandemic, but have not been able to benefit from previous measures, such as short-term layoffs and adjustment support.
– It will go into effect in the autumn to help individual companies that are having a very difficult time It is a question of justice and that these companies have a chance to survive the crisis, says Annie Lööf.
The economic-political spokesperson for the moderates, Elisabeth Svantesson, also says that the support comes too late.
– It took too long. We have been fighting for a crisis package for sole traders since the beginning of the summer, but I am glad it arrives.
– It’s a victory for small business owners who have not received support before, continues Svantesson.
It is proposed that the government’s proposal come into force as soon as possible and is based on an agreement between the ruling parties, the Center Party and the Liberals. Around 46,000 businesses are said to be affected by the support, including cultural workers, artisans, hairdressers and freelancers.
Companies should be able to be compensated with 75 percent of the turnover loss, provided that they have had a turnover of at least 200,000 SEK during the previous year. The support will be used to cover the loss of income from March to July this year.
In total, business support is estimated at SEK 5 billion, but according to Lööf, more will be spent if necessary.
– It is not the case that it is in order of arrival. Companies with such large losses will be supported, says Annie Lööf.
A maximum of SEK 120,000 will be paid per merchant.
– The aim is that the legislation is in force in mid-October and that it is possible to receive the payment during the autumn, says Lööf.
For many companies now on their knees, these efforts will be crucial, he says.
– The most important measure for companies in the country is to roll back the infection so that the economy can start. In the meantime, we must help companies in difficulty, says Annie Lööf.
Then support is granted
The aid is granted under the following conditions:
* that net sales during March – April of this year were less than 70 percent of sales in the same period last year;
* that net sales in May were below 60 percent of sales in May of last year;
* that net sales during June – July were less than 50 percent of sales in the same months last year.
