“First of all, it is the responsibility of the individual”

The use of mouth protection is recommended on public transportation during the morning and afternoon rush hours and applies to everyone aged 16 and over, according to new advice that arrived Wednesday from the Public Health Agency.

The recommendation to wear mouth guards on public transportation starting on January 7 emerged as part of the government’s coronary restrictions on December 18. Today, the Swedish Public Health Agency issued that recommendation as a new general council.

– The public health authority just left a message, just a few minutes ago. Travelers are advised to wear mouth guards during the week between 7 and 9 a.m. and between 4 and 6 p.m., says Henrik Kjellberg, press communicator for Västtrafik.

The advice applies to all people born in 2004 and earlier, those under the age of 16 are not covered by the oral hygiene recommendation.

The idea was also that public transport should provide mouth protection for those travelers who forgot to bring theirs.

– You may interpret it a little differently than the Public Health Agency. We interpret this in the sense that public transport must, to some extent, provide oral protection to those who do not have it. Our plan is for it to be issued through the Västtrafik stores we have in the region, says Henrik Kjellberg.

So you don’t have to provide mouth guards to travelers?

– No, not how we interpret it. First of all, it is the personal responsibility of the individual and so is the Swedish Public Health Agency.

Henrik Kjellberg says that Västtrafik will now review how much oral protection will need to be purchased and from where.

Your advice for travelers before January 7?

– If you have to travel during these times, continue to follow the advice you have before and with your approved mouth guards that work well. And go in and read on the Public Health Agency website about how to use it, he says.

The above restrictions are: to avoid unnecessary travel, travel outside peak hours, and keep your distance if you have to travel collectively.
