At 06 o’clock, the rescue service of a grocery store in Järvsö in the municipality of Ljusdal was alerted. Callers had seen smoke rising from the roof of the building, near a chimney.

The fire is not out yet and flames are opened from the ceiling. At 09:00 hours, four fire stations with a total of 20 people are working on the site. The extinguishing work is expected to last all day.

No injuries were reported.

What caused the fire is currently unknown. Smoke divers have been inside the building but were forced to leave due to the risk of a landslide.

– This type of premises do not last long when exposed to fire. Then it can collapse, says Kenneth Eriksson.

A VMA (Important Public Announcement) was issued and Highway 83 through Järvsö was closed due to heavy smoke.

Everyone in the area is encouraged stay indoors and close doors, windows, and vents.

– There are some nearby nursing homes that have turned off their fans, says Kenneth Eriksson.
