Finland also won the second match of the JVM. Stock Photography.
It was not a convincing victory.
But after a solo goal, Finland managed to rise up and beat Switzerland 4-1.
– It was a difficult match, Finn Anton Lundell tells SVT.
Finland has not impressed at the start of the JVM tournament in Canada, but has still won both matches.
Sunday’s game against Switzerland ended 4-1, but it was not a result that reflected the landscape of the match.
– It was an even match. We got the goals we needed. An important victory for us, says a bloody Anton Lundell to SVT.
But he gave a reassuring message about the jacket on his forehead.
– I feel good and I am one hundred percent, he says.
Switzerland surprised and took the lead after three and a half minutes, by Attilio Biasca. But the joy was short-lived, as just 36 seconds later, Finnish super talent Anton Lundell tied.
The lesser lion started the second period in a spirited fashion and received an early dividend. Juuso Pärssinens embarked on a solo foray and ended up spraying the puck on the net. One of the most beautiful goals in Finland, and possibly in the entire JVM.
Finland had better acuity in the face of goal, but invited the Swiss to the game incurring a series of unnecessary expulsions.
In the middle of the third period, Finn Aku Räty was able to extend the lead to 3-1 before Kasper Simontaival closed the event by scoring 4-1.
A big defeat for Switzerland, who seem ready to fight Germany and the last playoff spot.
