Finland raises the barrier of Uusimaa province, where the capital Helsinki is located, Prime Minister Sanna Marin announces at a press conference.
According to the government, there are good reasons to maintain restrictions on freedom of movement, which the public health authority has also advocated for the spread of the infection, but the Constitution stops.
– Therefore, there is no legal basis to proceed. The government should abolish the restriction, says Marin according to Svenska Yle.
– Restrictions on fundamental rights can only be implemented when it is of utmost importance, and must be proportional to the challenges one wants to face, says Justice Minister Anna-Maja Henriksson, who also participates in the press conference, according to Hufvudstadsbladet.
