On Sunday, police announced that they had made a new find of the remaining missing in the landslide accident in Norway, according to NRK. The deceased must have been found just before 6 a.m. by a special team from the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service, which has been working at the scene all night. They are now working to transport the deceased out of the area of the landslide, according to NRK.
Police currently have no further information on the deceased.
Rescuers also have They found several pets that have been recovered from the evacuated area. On Saturday night, a live cat was also found and two dogs had previously been rescued, Dagbladet claims.
– There is talk that there may be several pets in the houses and it is considered safe enough to enter the houses, the head of rescue service tasks, Gisle Sveen, told VG on Saturday night.
According to Gisle Sveen, they had located some pets that were alive and had received food. At the same time, he notes that it is a time-consuming process to get all the pets that are known to have remained in the houses.
– This is done laterally and does not affect the ability of the rescue operation. We understand that animals are important to those who have had to evacuate their homes, Sveen tells VG.
The Ask landslide occurred at 04:00 on Wednesday morning. Since then, a feverish rescue operation has been carried out to find people among the landslides. So far, five people have been found dead out of the ten who were reported missing.
The first body was rescued on Friday and on Saturday three more dead were found about a hundred meters inside the search area, and another was found on Sunday morning.
The person who died in Friday has been identified as a 31-year-old man. His partner and his dog survived unharmed, according to NRK. The other people have not yet been identified, but police assume they are on the list of the ten missing: five women, three men and two boys, including a girl born in 2018 and a 13-year-old girl.
Ten people are injured, one of them seriously.
