More than 3,200 people have died from covid-19 in Sweden and almost 26,000 have been infected. But the trend is constant, and the health care situation is somewhat calmer, according to state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.
The latest statistics from the Public Health Authority show that a total of 3,220 people have died in covid-19 suites in Sweden. This is an increase of 45 people in the last 24 hours, but as usual you can expect some delay on the weekends.
– The figures are expected. It has been a fairly stable development for quite some time. It’s a little calmer even in medical care, although it’s still very difficult, says Anders Tegnell, a state epidemiologist at the Public Health Authority.
Moving from Stockholm
Even when it comes to the number of deaths, one can see a downward trend, according to Anders Tegnell.
1,693 people have or have received intensive care. In total, 25,921 people were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus in Sweden.
– There is a slow change from Stockholm to other parts of the country.
But even in the most affected counties in terms of population, Sörmland and Östergötland, there is a decrease in the number of new cases.
“There is an even clearer decline than in Stockholm,” says Tegnell, and then emphasizes the importance of following the authorities’ recommendations while maintaining distances, avoiding traveling and staying home for the decline to continue.
“Keep your distance”
TT: Foreign Minister Ann Linde said today that travel abroad will not be possible this summer. But national trips depend on your recommendations, what will it be like?
– We will do a general evaluation at the end of the month.
TT: Does it make you nervous that the Swedes can’t stay at home now that the weather is nice?
– No. It’s not stupid to stay out as long as you keep your distance, says Anders Tegnell.
podcasts Then IS exploits the crown crisis
Since 2014, IS has existed and has spread its terror through many attacks around the world and thousands of people have died. But since last year it has been pretty quiet in the big media about IS. How does the pandemic affect IS? Do they appear hidden and will they carry out attacks in the world now that they are more vulnerable?
