Perhaps it was a visit from the league’s leading arch-rival Frölunda that was necessary for Färjestad to put his defensive order in SHL ice hockey in order.
Where it used to be dizzy and empty, now it was total concentration that was applied from the first drop.
He gave the second three points of the season for the hard-pressed Karlstad team. Oskar Bäck, Michael Lindqvist and Carl Jakobsson scored the goals in the 3-0 victory.
– We are active and aggressive. We move the puck like we want to do in the attacking game and there are many parts of the game without the puck that are better than before, coach Johan Pennerborn tells C More.
The home team always had a lot of people on the surface in front of goalkeeper Arvid Holm and made sure that most of Frölunda’s shots came from far away.
Holm thanked his teammates for their help in marking the first zero of the season.
“Know what we get”
Looking ahead, the planned defensive unit with Bäck, Jakobsson and Pontus Widerström played a very good game.
Bäck shaved 1-0 midway through the first period and Jakobsson took advantage of an error by Frölunda as he went 3-0 with less than nine minutes to go.
– We finished very well last season and I felt good when we also had the opportunity now. We don’t think so much. We’re just trying to have fun, Bäck tells C More.
Hesitant guests
With the exception of a couple of really long disc possessions in the offensive zone in the second period, Gothenburg’s guests showed no offensive league leaders, and Frölunda was forced to go home as table three.
– We’re getting too comfortable. We doubt both with the album and without it. It’s that second of thought that you can’t pay. Färjestad has the attitude and wins fairly, coach Roger Rönnberg tells C More.
