The organization behind Faktum magazine and the staff of the Clarion Hotel Post have had to rethink the annual tradition of the Christmas table. To avoid congestion and infection, take-out is applied.
Faktum vendors can choose in advance what time they want to arrive at the Post Hotel, enter through a back door, bring food and Christmas presents, and then exit through another door.

When Gothenburg Municipality mapped the homeless this spring, there were 3,733 homeless people in the municipality.
– Corona has made it increasingly difficult for the homeless, says Raman Gashi, who has been selling Faktum for almost 15 years.
During that time, homelessness has alternated with temporary housing solutions. But she has had her own apartment for four months.
– Now it is completely stable and very normal. I have received a home through Boplats.
Whether the tradition of the Christmas table could be kept alive was uncertain until the end, according to Sarah Britz, editor-in-chief of Faktum.
– It is extremely important and raises hope that we can still do something together. This dinner is usually a great opportunity to meet everyone involved with Faktum.

The pandemic has also affected Faktum magazine, among other things through a drop in advertising sales. Spring also meant fewer newspapers sold.
– It was a break, but since then sales are still pretty normal. It’s not really the disaster we thought it would be. We have also received a lot of support from individuals, for example through Swish. There are big hearts that support us.
More people arrive and collect Christmas food. Some take their children with them. Including Alina Stan. Actually, it is her husband who sells Faktum, but he is not here because he is in a risk group and can become seriously ill from covid-19.
His family was one of the eight who lived in the described Meros campsite and who later received help from the municipality with an apartment. She thinks, as all GPs say, the Christmas food pickup arrangement works well.
– You can’t be around other people now. Then we could have all been infected. So this is good.

For children, there are also Christmas gifts, collected at the Post Hotel. Jesica Stan, Alina Stan’s daughter, looks at the package box.
– I got a lot of Christmas presents. I will open them now. I’m not that good at waiting, she says.
