The article is illustrated with summer images from last year and contains alleged quotes from triathlete Joanna Soltysiak, where she encourages other athletes to come to Sweden, as all sporting events take place as usual. In the article, she also talks about an infected doctor who is allowed to continue working in the hospital.
But Joanna Soltysiak has not participated in any interviews, writes in an email to SVT: “I was very surprised and unaware of any articles. I have definitely not been in contact with any media. It is all surreal.”
According to the Crowdtangle analytics tool, the article has approximately 280,000 Facebook interactions, and is therefore one of the most shared articles about Sweden on Russian-language sites.
According to two opposition human rights activists, the current site is regime-controlled in Azerbaijan, and its articles on the West are described as works commissioned by Russia, SVT News writes in an analysis.
