Fair Play fell into the dramatic finale of SM: “Feels heavy”

A foot sprain that lurked and five games that were decided in the match tiebreak. Dramatically worse, but in the end the Fair Play fell in the final of the Swedish Championship against Solna TK, 2-4.
– Of course it feels heavy right now, but everyone gave their all and did the best they could, Fair Play coach David Ekerot said in a press release.

In the men’s tennis final, Fair Play got off to a nightmare start at home in Malmö. After the initial doubles, the score was 0-2.

– Solna played very well in doubles and had some wind in the sails after victories in the match tiebreaker, but we were close to turning the game around, said David Ekerot.

Fair Play entered the final of the Swedish Championship. Viktor Durasovic managed to turn around and beat Antoine Escoffier 11-9 in the tiebreaker of the match.

More was needed. And more came.

Suddenly it was 2-2 after a single win by Christian Sigsgaard.

Hope was gone when Holger Rune had foot problems on the second single and was forced to break. The position against Jonathan Mridha de Solna was then 5-7, 3-4.

– Unhappy. Otherwise, Holger is a master at making matches. We can only hope it’s not a serious sprain, David Ekerot said.

It definitely ended for Fair Play when Filip Bergevi on the court next door fell in a game tiebreaker against Kenneth Raisma.

– We knew that the final would be a difficult match. It was even when we met in Solna as well, although we won that match 5-1. We will have to take new steps next year, said David Ekerot.
