Facebook is now launching a mobile app for Facebook Gaming. The app is entirely dedicated to watching or streaming games, reports The New York Times.

Originally, the app was slated for release in June, but Facebook decided to delay the release to take advantage of as many viewers as have emerged regarding security work on the coronavirus.

In terms of game streaming, Facebook Gaming has long ranked third behind Twitch and YouTube. Something the company hopes to change with the new app. Among other things, the opportunity to stream mobile games, a previously largely unexplored market. The application also allows to transmit directly through its Facebook page and thus reach viewers.

Initially, Facebook Gaming will not contain advertising, but streamers can earn money through donations from viewers.

The Facebook Gaming app will be available through the Google Play Store starting Monday, and will also appear on iOS as soon as Apple approves it.
