In light of the increased spread of the infection, more people want to be tested for COVID-19. The Skåne Region is now working hard to expand the sampling.
– At the moment there is extremely high pressure on testing, says Louise Ercolino from the Region Skåne press service.
In the Skåne region, self-diagnosis for covid-19 is ordered at 1177.se with electronic identification and collected and dropped off at selected pharmacies and special self-diagnosis centers.
In Skåne, you can pick up a suspected covid infection sampling kit from around fifty pharmacies by booking an appointment through 1177. But at the moment it is difficult to get tested.
In about half of the pharmacies It is not possible to make an appointment for a covid test until the middle of next week.
In addition to the pharmacies, there are also nine sampling points around Skåne where you can stay in the car and get the sample through the window. Here too it is difficult to get tested in the next few days.
The biggest shortage is in Malmö. Covid-19 testing is not possible here until Wednesday at the earliest.
– There is a lot of pressure on testing now. A lot of pressure, says Louise Ercolino, in the Skåne Region press service.
The spread of covid-19 has increased considerably in Scania recently. At the beginning of the week, local restrictions were introduced in Skåne for turning down curves.
Region Skåne does not make an official update on the spread of the infection this weekend, but on the Facebook page of the regional councilor Carl Johan Sonesson (M), it was possible to follow the development of the number of covid patients admitted to the hospital . Between Friday and Saturday, the number of hospitalized patients increased from 66 to 71. By Sunday lunchtime, the number dropped to 68 hospitalized covid patients, but then one patient died.
In Region Skåne you follow development with care. Right now, they are working hard to increase the sampling capacity, says Louise Ercolino.
– We have measures in place and we are constantly working to follow up and see what we can do.
However, on the measures, the Skåne Region cannot agree on Sunday.
Besides seeing how The sampling capacity can be expanded, the Skåne Region has also changed the job of infection tracking. According to regional director Alf Jönsson, there were about a hundred employees working full or part time on Tuesday to track infections. He then also claimed that they are training 20 new infection markers and that next week they intend to increase that number with another 20 to 30 new infection markers.
Basically it’s positive that so many Scanians now heed advice and examine themselves for symptoms, says Louise Ercolino.
– It is very positive that people take these advice seriously.
